Greg Hicks, OD

Dr. Gregory W. Hicks graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1984. He completed additional clinical study in vision therapy and pediatric vision care at The State University of New York State College of Optometry. Dr. Hicks serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry and he has fourth year optometry externs work along side him on a daily basis. He has practiced full time at Family Eye Care Centers in Sandusky, Huron and Clyde, Ohio since 1990. Dr. Hicks has special interests in the care of infants and children as well as binocular vision and learning related visual problems but he enjoys working with patients of all ages.

Dr. Hicks is very involved in the professional optometric community including the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA) and American Optometric Association (AOA). He served as president of the OOA in 2000 and was the OOA Optometrist of the Year in 2004. He also serves as the AOA appointed member on the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) which is the only accrediting body of the professional optometric degree (O.D.) programs, optometric residency programs, and optometric technician programs. In 2005 Dr. Hicks was awarded the first Dr. W. David Sullins, Jr American Optometric Association InfantSee Award for his role in promoting infant eye care issues on a national and community basis.

Dr. Hicks plays an active role in numerous public service and community organizations such as the Sandusky Rotary Club, Erie County Chamber of Commerce, Erie County United Way, OSU Alumni Club of Erie County and the Boy Scouts of America. He currently resides in Sandusky, Ohio with his wife Vicky. They have three children: Jeremy, Cassie and Jonathan. He enjoys golf, water sports, and the Ohio State Buckeyes!

Dr. Hicks is available to see patients in Sandusky and Huron.

Heather Demos, OD

Dr. Heather Demos completed her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She received a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science at Illinois College of Optometry and graduated with her Doctor of Optometry from ICO in 1999.

Dr. Demos joined Family Eye Care Center in 1999. She currently resides in Huron with her husband Scott, who is a teacher at Huron Schools. They have two wonderful sons Stephen and Daniel. They enjoy golfing, boating, sports and spending time with family and friends.

She is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is currently President of the Ohio State University Alumni Club and is involved in many activities with her children.

Dr. Demos is available to see patients in Huron and Clyde.

Stephanie Baxter, OD

Dr. Stephanie Baxter completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Toledo where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in June 2008 with her Doctor of Optometry.

Dr.Baxter joined Family Eye Care Centers in July 2008.  The former Dr.Gutierrez married her husband Kevin in July 2009.  Her husband is a medical student completing his rotations at Firelands Regional Medical Center. They live in Sandusky and enjoy Ohio State football and spending time with family and friends.

She is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and The Ohio State University Alumni Association. She is a board member with The Ohio State University Optometry Alumni Association and on The Clyde Expo committee. Dr. Baxter is also involved locally with The Clyde Business & Professional Association, North Coast Young Professionals and an alumni with Leadership Sandusky County.

Dr. Baxter is available to see patients in Clyde and Sandusky.

David Dreffer, OD

Dr. David Dreffer graduated from the OSU College of Optometry in 1963. He served as a Navy optometrist for 4 years and returned to the College to teach and study for an additional two years. He then started his practice in Huron, Ohio during the summer of 1968. Dr. Dreffer was instrumental in merging a number of other optometric practices together which currently make up the three offices of Family Eye Care Centers located in Huron, Sandusky and Clyde, Ohio.

Dr. Dreffer has been a very active member of the community where he has participated in Huron boosters, Huron Chamber of Commerce, and the Huron Jaycees. He was a board member and served as president in 1972 for the Erie County OSU Alumni Association. He also became a Rotarian in 1968 and served as president in 1976. Dr. Dreffer has also been active in the optometric community in the American Optometric Association (AOA) and Ohio Optometric Association (OOA). He served on the OOA board of directors and was OOA president in 1985. He has also served on the board of directors for both Ohio and National Vision Service Plan.

Dr. Dreffer has retired from practice as of July 2008.
